1. Who we are
Petroshire Energy Ltd ("Petroshire", "we", "us") is a privately owned company incorporated in Kenya under the Companies Act (Cap 486), with its head office at Bruce House, 11th Floor, Standard Street, Nairobi. We are the data controller for personal data collected through this website.
You can contact us about this policy at [email protected] or on +254 708 120 574.
2. Personal data we collect
We collect only what we need to respond to you and run the website:
- Enquiry details — name or company, email address or phone number, product, volume, destination, timing and any notes you give us through the quote form.
- Correspondence — messages you send us by email, phone or WhatsApp.
- Preferences — your chosen theme (light/dark) and language, stored on your own device.
- Technical data — standard server logs such as IP address, browser type and pages requested, kept for security and troubleshooting.
We do not knowingly collect sensitive personal data, and the website is not directed at children.
3. How we use your data
- To respond to quote requests and enquiries and to prepare offers and contracts.
- To arrange delivery, documentation and invoicing for orders.
- To meet legal, tax, licensing and regulatory obligations in the oil trade.
- To keep the website secure, and to understand and improve how it is used.
- To contact you about our products, where you have asked us to or where the law allows.
4. Lawful basis
Under the Data Protection Act, 2019 (Kenya) we process personal data where it is necessary to take steps at your request before entering a contract or to perform a contract, where we are required to by law, where we have a legitimate interest in running and securing our business, or where you have given consent. Where we rely on consent you may withdraw it at any time.
5. Sharing your data
We do not sell personal data. We share it only with:
- Service providers who help us run the website, email, messaging and hosting, under appropriate confidentiality and security terms.
- Logistics, transport and supply partners, where needed to fulfil an order you have placed.
- Professional advisers, auditors, regulators, customs and other public authorities where we are legally required to.
If you choose to contact us through WhatsApp, your message is handled by WhatsApp under its own terms and privacy policy.
6. International transfers
Because we supply customers across East and Central Africa, and some providers operate outside Kenya, your data may be transferred to other countries. Where this happens we take steps required by the Data Protection Act to ensure it remains appropriately protected.
7. How long we keep data
We keep enquiry data for as long as needed to deal with your request and any resulting business relationship, and afterwards for the periods required by tax, commercial and regulatory rules. When data is no longer needed it is deleted or anonymised.
8. Cookies and local storage
This website does not currently use advertising or analytics cookies. It stores your theme and language choice in your browser's local storage so that the site remembers them; you can clear this at any time in your browser settings. If we add analytics or other cookies in future we will update this policy and, where required, ask for your consent.
9. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal data against loss, misuse and unauthorised access. No internet transmission is completely secure, so please avoid sending sensitive information through open channels.
10. Your rights
You have the right to be informed about how your data is used, to access it, to object to or restrict processing, to have inaccurate data corrected, to have data deleted where appropriate, and to data portability, as set out in the Data Protection Act, 2019. To exercise any right, email [email protected]. We will respond within the period the law requires.
If you are unhappy with how we handle your data you may complain to the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner of Kenya.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top shows when it last changed, and material changes will be highlighted on the website.
